Colorite SampleWayne, Pa. (August 23, 2018) — The latest in medical tubing and compounds for medical device applications will be featured by Tekni-Plex business units Colorite and Natvar at Medtec China, September 26-28, Shanghai, China, Hall 2H B208.

Natvar is recognized as a leader in traditional PVC tubing solutions including multilayer combinations featuring polyethylene and EVA, as well as anti-kinking options.  Its recently-launched microextrusion and silicone tubing solutions will also be featured at Medtec China.

Microextrusion tubing has been developed in recent years to service a wide variety of demanding neurovascular interventional therapies and surgical applications. Natvar’s microextrusion medical tubing can be made from cost-effective thermoplastics and other highly-engineered materials. Because it can consistently hold tight tolerances, it is an ideal alternative to more expensive materials such as glass and fluoropolymers.

Natvar also manufactures high-precision medical silicone extrusion tubing, typically used for catheters, feeding tubes, drug delivery and peristaltic pump applications.

Medical-grade compounder Colorite will be discussing medical device commercialization trends for its Cellene® line of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds. While PVC compounds still command the majority of market share, TPE alternatives are ideal for those desiring non-phthalate containing materials to address regulatory pressures. The material is gaining traction globally in a number of applications—such as drip chambers, IV and peristaltic pump tubing — looking for alternatives to PVC and silicone.

Cellene TPEs are suitable for a wide variety of uses in medical devices, packaging and other regulated markets. Cellene compounds are formulated to be silicone, latex, phthalate, halogen and PVC-free using FDA-compliant raw materials to meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 standards.
